Blend up your favourite berries, banana, dates, avocados, vegetables, yoghurt or milk, seeds or nuts.
Once blended this will be the base of your smoothie bowl. Add your favourite healthy toppings like berries, banana, mango, coconut flakes, almond slivers, crushed cashews, chia seeds... the healthy toppings are endless.
Please take photos of your creations and send it to me: lrigon@spadoreen.catholic.edu.au
These are a great way to eat a very healthy breakfast, which will get your brain and body off to a fantastic start for the day.
Cereals (dependant on the type) unfortunately contain lots of sugar, which makes them become an unhealthy option. Smoothie Breakfast Bowls allow for lots of variety in the way of fruit, seeds, nuts, coconut, yoghurt, granola or muesli, honey, cacao, shaved dark chocolate, dates, spinach leaves, broccoli... yep even vegetables.
Remember when you blend vegetables and fruits together, it is like drinking a smoothie, but this time you are putting it in a bowl and decorating it with goodness. Think of all the vitamins and minerals you are feeding your body for the day.
Muffins are a great mini cake to make in the kitchen. The good thing is that you can make a double batch and freeze them, to eat when you need them.
Below is my basic muffin recipe......Create your own muffin. You can add whatever you like. It can be sweet or savoury.
You could add: Apple, Banana, Zucchini, Carrot, Pear, Berries, Bacon, Cheese, Chocolate, Sultana's, Cranberries, Coconut, Cocoa.. The list is endless...... Use your imagination!!

This week we will be making our own Gratitude Lunch to celebrate World Gratitude Day. Using my flatbread recipe, you can make a Gratitude Wrap and a Gratitude Smoothie for someone who you are grateful for, to have in your life. You can also make it with your family and share it together to show how grateful you are of each other. Either way it is a time to spend together and be thankful of all the simple things in life ,that we are grateful for.
SCROLL DOWN FOR SMOOTHIE RECIPE AND FLATBREAD RECIPE AND VIDEO.
Double the recipe to make 8 - 10 rounds, for larger wraps.
The easy recipe can be used for many different purposes in your cooking. You can use them as a wrap, souvlaki bread, with your dip, or with a curry. This is a very simple recipe, but it is really fun to make. Watch the video first before you start cooking. When you are cooking the wraps it is a good idea to do this with an adult as the pan gets very hot.
This year let's make it extra special for your mums for Mother's Day.
It is all about showing your mum how much she means to you, so a great way to show her, is to cook mum a special meal.
Have a think about what your mums favourite food is. It can be for any meal of the day.
I know that all mums would love their family to come together and think of a special creation so you all eat together. Remember it is about Being in the moment....... the moment being MOTHERS DAY.
You could make a breakfast, lunch or dinner or you could make some biscuits or the scones in the recipe section for morning or afternoon tea.
Have some fun and use your imagination to create a special Mothers Day creation in the kitchen for mum to enjoy on her special day.
Head on over to the kitchen section and get some inspiration.

There are many ways to remember our Anzacs. One that is significant and that has continued through the years, is the making of Anzac Biscuits. This little cookie during World War 1 was often sent to soldiers, because they travelled well and didn't go mouldy like bread did.
They were sent from their wives or women's groups to show support and to allow them a little reminder of their loved ones, missing them at home.
This Anzac Day spend time together in the kitchen, making these yummy biscuits to share together.
Tuesday 16th February is Shrove Tuesday also known as Pancake Tuesday. It is the last day before the Catholic time of Lent begins.
Before Lent, people would use up all the foods that they could not eat during Lent. This is where pancakes began as they could make these easily with the foods that they needed to use.
Celebrate Shrove Tuesday at home and make Pancakes with your family. Use the recipe IN THE EXTRA RECIPE SECTION OF THE COOKING BLOG and watch the video of myself making pancakes for my family.
You can swap flour, milk and eggs to suit your dietary needs. Swap what you cannot have to what you can have. This recipe is very adaptable.
Top pancakes with banana, berries, stewed apples, maple syrup, jam, ice cream or cream.
Some of our Spa Chefs have been busy cooking in their kitchen at home. Here they baked Anzac biscuits to commemorate Anzac Day on Saturday 25th April.
It looks like they had a whole heap of fun.
How many biscuits did you make from one batch of your Anzac Cookie Mixture?
Remember to always ask mum or dad to be present with you in the kitchen, when you are cooking or using utensils.
Clean hands are more important than ever, so make sure you wash your hands and kitchen utensils.
I look forward to sharing your photos and seeing how creative you all can be in the kitchen

Our SPA Chef has been busy cooking in the kitchen, making fried rice for his dinner. What a great way to eat your daily vegetables.
All of the vegetables for this Fried Rice were picked from his very own vegetable garden at home, with his mum.
What a fantastic job!

A basic muffin recipe can be changed to include so many different varieties.
Well done on creating a fantastic flavour and for showing your little brother that it is not too young to cook in the kitchen.
