I had Mr Bateman for Geography - a pretty easy going chap, although he had his moments – I still reap the benefits from learning about Relief Rainfall.
Tall and very slim, and giving the physical impression that he may have served in the Far East during the War and as such, may have suffered from the traumas of captivity – which is probably why our tomfoolery was never allowed to go too far.
He used many “hand-outs” and spent his time teaching, which is why I would mark "his Report Card" quite highly.
John Warner - 1961 to '66
Was ok and punished using a large gym shoe applied to the backside.

Bogey was my Form master for a complete school year, Our classroom was in the Art school ~ Entrance opposite the Assembly Hall and next to the "bike sheds" The only thing was, he did not take any of us for lessons, we attended no classes in that room and the only time we saw him was first thing Monday morning to take a roll call, and that soon came to an end. Then it was the responsibility of a nominated boy to check in our names in a register in pencil. A boy named John Ramage seemed to have been the best at performing this duty and for the next 2 terms we reported to him each morning and afternoon. Very trusting system I thought, and so did others in the class!
