Ivan Sparrow Dec 15, 2017

On behalf of Malcolm Newman - I post his email :-

Hello again Ivan,

Fyi, there have been 2 main and 2 informal reunions - of the '66 Upper 6th form - since April last year. In April last year, Dave Roberton, Clarrie Haynes, Martin Butcher and I visited the school during the first week of the Summer term. This was 50 years since the school moved to the new premises at the top of Marlow Hill. We met with the then 2nd form during their morning assembly and then had a grand tour of the school - which has had 2 further extensions since 1966. This was followed by an enjoyable lunch at a nearby Pub on the road into Marlow. Later in October 2016, the '66 Head boy and deputy - Robin Down and Dave Large - joined me in a 2nd visit and tour. Both Robin and Dave were not able to come in April. Although he did not join us at the school, Terry Marsh also came to the lunch (same pub) where Dave Roberton and Martin Butcher had arrived earlier. In March this year Dave Roberton, Terry Marsh and I met up again at Wycombe Wanderers football ground (no longer at the sloping pitch at Loakes Park!) in the Sands area. This was the match against Blackpool. This was repeated last week where Martin Butcher, Clarrie Haynes and Mike Bridge came along as well - a larger gathering of 6 of us. Many of us had not met Mike since 1966. This time Wycombe were playing Yeovil town. We are now looking to arrange a grander re-union in 2019 where we hope to gather all the 1959 intake - irrespective of whether they left at the end of the 5th form or stayed longer. This will a 60th anniversary. I will be placing an advert in the Bucks Free Press soon but if this note can be placed on the website as well, this may trigger some further replies.

Best regards to all

Malcolm Newman.
