Why do we trust in one another
When we know not what to do?
Is this the way to discover
When we just don’t have a clue?
When the one that we do follow
Has no knowledge of what he’s doing,
It’s a bitter pill to swallow
That brings about its ruin.
So often do we embark upon
Behaviour set down by others;
Almost as one who’s nonchalant,
To how it’ll affect our brothers.
We are sometimes like a set of dominoes,
Laying one behind the other;
When one falls over all the others follow,
No rhyme or reason as a buffer.
How do we initiate responsibility
For those things that we undertake?
To avoid destructibility
And the need to apply the brake.
Let’s listen to officialdom,
They have our interests in mind.
One hopes they have the wisdom
To lead us down a path defined.
