I’ve wished at times that I was rich,
Well wealthier than most.
Then I wondered what I lacked
To be mine that I could boast.
I decided then to categorise,
What to me was all important.
A graph of happiness to rise
To make life more accordant.
‘Twas then I had an epiphany
That all I really yearned for,
Was out there like one’s destiny
To take and even store.
‘Tis good then to remember,
Nature’s riches in abundance.
Like a garden in full splendour
That can make life so wondrous.
Those things that make one wealthy
Need not be of gold and silver made;
Think of just being healthy,
Or of friendships that don’t fade.
Materialism is a human trait,
And no doubt brings much joy;
But really should not dominate
The spirit to destroy.
