We thought it was all over
When we did retire,
A new life spent in clover
Contentment to acquire.
But life’s events were yet to come
Not by us this time begun.
We led the way and they did follow
Our children‘s temple of Apollo.
Much joy they did give us
With all of their achievements;
New family to enslave us,
Their turn to circumvent .
So this was just the beginning
Of brand new hopes and wishes;
This time round just as thrilling
As they pursued their missions.
A meeting with our maker to await,
This was not to be we found;
A role reversal we had to make,
Our children’s knowledge to astound.
Life for us need not adjourn
In time we would discover;
If from our progeny we did learn
A new world to uncover.
