It’s best if we accept it,
And enjoy it while we can;
This great sense of contentment,
It simply cannot last.
Life’s path is filled with pitfalls,
Over which we have no control;
Should we build around us, a mighty brick wall?
But in time, and even then, that simply would not last.
So we must traverse this dicey journey,
The alternative should not to be considered.
Always looking forward, to that for which it’s worthy,
And hope that it will this time last.
It’s best that we do recollect
Our times of great serenity;
When faced with times we'd best forget,
And acknowledge it definitely will not last.
If we accept this dichotomy, of good times and the bad,
We may then be able to compensate
With memories we have had;
Remembering always - it really cannot last.
