Most people saw it coming
Drastic steps by the powers that be.
Some thought that they were rushing,
What would be, would be.
We sat there glued to our TV sets,
With not a little foreboding;
We did not know what to expect
But felt our world exploding.
To several long orations we listened,
By those in whom our country was entrusted:
Some of us with teary eyes that glistened,
To how our lives must now become adjusted.
Never in our life had we encountered
Such drastic but needy changes;
We knew they could not be countered,
And their consequences would have wide ranges.
Let us hope and pray these measures,
Taken with the best intention,
By adding to our hours of leisure
Will result in no more intervention.
