I live in a retirement village
And you know I could not be happier.
Where all the residents are of an age
With whom we find no barrier.
Kindness and companionship abound,
With all our neighbours who are just the best.
They all come from various backgrounds,
A new life in which they do invest.
Loneliness is foreign here
For most of us we face an uncertain future.
But never would this show in our demeanour;
Comradeship contributes to our humour.
We know the present is all important;
We must live it now for all its worth,
Lest our time on earth should be shortened
And we must depart thenceforth.
