After living several decades,
We thought we’d seen it all.
From wars and their invasion
To earthquakes that did appal.
We heard in horror of human cruelty,
Of barbarity too awful to even contemplate.
Terrorist attacks occurring with regularity,
Mad shooters sealing others’ fate.
The virus with the name Covid-19
Has hit the world without a miss;
Its damage to our lifestyles quite obscene,
Shattering our lives of convivial bliss.
Our Governments are doing all they can,
To contain this execrable event.
With some all-encompassing plan,
To shorten and curtail its extent.
Let’s pray to God that they do succeed,
For those most vulnerable it will destroy.
And never more shall we have the need
For self-isolation to employ.
