It is with some shame I must confess,
My knowledge of rugby is just short of zero.
As this national game with all its stress,
Has presented this country with many a hero.
To me with all its rough and tumble,
It should be confined to men of steel.
Then anxious mothers would not grumble
When their little offspring hit the field.
I sometimes wonder if it’s worth it
To risk some awful injury;
For one’s own and other’s entertainment
In the search for sporting victory.
For those in this game who gain success
Their country does shower with glory.
But in some cases the cost suppressed
For that is in fact a different story.
For those who in this sport partake,
Their playing time is somewhat limited;
One wonders then what career they make
When from this one they are prohibited.
