I thought I could never be happier
The day I wed my man.
This union would have no barrier
To my life’s great plan.
But age had not prepared me
To expect life’s ups and downs;
That much happiness and misery
Through lifetime usually found.
The years would bring maturity
To face all that came with impunity;
To learn that joy oft follows sadness
And in the end bring much gladness.
If one like me is fortunate
You meet life’s storms head on;
Hand in hand you meet your fate
And soon they’ll be bygone.
And when the time comes to leave mortality,
One can only hope,
That one’ deeds had credibility
In life’s kaleidoscope.
