EFSA TKPlate 2
Further development of EFSA’s TKPlate platform for toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic modelling
Further development of EFSA’s TKPlate platform for toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic modelling
This 18-month EFSA-funded project, "Further development of EFSA’s TKPlate platform for toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic modelling" started in December 2025.
It is coordinated by Ineris and covers three objecives:
Objective 1: Further develop TKPlate modules through integration of physiological data, available model codes in R and MCSim and modular design
Review of available physiological data
Collection of available model codes in R and MCSim for 1) in silico prediction of ADME chemical-specific properties, 2) generic PBK models
Modular design of the TKPlate platform, reviewed in the light of the data and model collection, with an option to select species and the number of compartments
Objective 2: Further develop PBK and bioaccumulation models through re-engineering available priority models identified by EFSA
Critical assessment of data and models from objective 1 to identify the most relevant models to be implemented in the TKPlate platform:
Physiologically-based kinetic models
Bioaccumulation models
Objective 3: Testing updated TKPlate modules and models using case studies of relevance to chemical risk assessment
Case studies will provide a basis for testing new modules and re-engineered model with five compounds.
