Task Description: Inspect the sample plate dimensions and confirm that it has the intended flight samples and thermistor.
Completion Deadline: May 31, 2022
Team Member: Ali
Resources Required: Assembled Flight Sample Plate
Verification Activities: V-PLD-0011, V-PLD-0031, V-PLD-0042, V-PLD-0051, V-PLD-0061, V-PLD-0721, V-PLD-0291
Pass Criteria: Flight sample plate contains 24 flight samples, the gnomon, and one thermistor, contains no adhesives
Detailed Description:
Count the number of samples embedded within the sample plate assembly.
Confirm that the thermistor has been mounted to the sample plate.
Inspect the sample plate and confirm that it does not use adhesives near the samples.
Task Description: Verify that Payload measurements are taken at a 30 degrees +/- 3 angle to the samples
Completion Deadline: May 31, 2022
Team Member: Ali
Resources Required:
Tools: Calipers, Protractor
Hardware and Equipment: PLD upper shell (UMS-0027), Sample plate assembly (UMS-0019), Rear supports (UMS-0097)
PPE: Cleanroom smock, face mask, gloves and goggles.
Verification Activities: V-PLD-0131
Pass Criteria: The sum of the camera mounting angle and sample plate mounting angle is 30 degrees +/- 3 degrees.
Assemble the rear support legs to the sample plate assembly (use Loctite on fasteners)
Measure the angle between the sample plate and rear legs using a protractor
Subtract that angle from 90 degrees, and then we have the angle between the sample plate and the upper shell.
Measure and record the heights of each of the PCB mounting posts on the Payload Upper Module.
2. Measure and record the heights of each corner of each payload camera as mounted on the Payload Control Board
3. Calculate the resulting angle between the normal vector at the centre of the camera board and the normal vector at the centre of the Payload Upper Module.
4. Measure the angle between the sample plate and structure.
5. Confirm that the sum of the camera mounting angle and sample plate mounting angle is 30 degrees +/- 3 degrees.
Task Description: Weigh the various Payload Flight Components
Completion Deadline: May 31, 2022
Team Member: Ali
Resources Required: digital scale, sample plate assembly, camera-Payload Control Board assembly, sample plate rear supports
Verification Activities: V-PLD-1790, V-PLD-0635
Pass Criteria: No single component has a mass greater than 250 grams and the sum of all masses is under 588 grams
Detailed Description:
Weigh and record the mass of each payload component (for this activity, the sample plate assembly and camera-Payload Control Board assembly without rear supports are considered single components).
Calculate the sum of all masses.
Task Description: Inspect the Payload Control Board
Completion Deadline: May 31, 2022

Resources Required: Payload Control Board
Verification Activities: V-PLD-0731
Pass Criteria: the payload control board has a thermistor mounted to it
Detailed Description:
Inspect the flight payload control board to verify that the payload control board has a thermistor mounted to it.
Task Description: confirm that all visible payload structural components are black anodized.
Completion Deadline: May 31, 2022
Team Member: Ali
Resources Required: sample plate assembly, sample plate rear supports
Verification Activities: V-PLD-0685, V-PLD-1051
Pass Criteria: Confirm that all parts that are to be black anodized, as indicated on the Payload ICD, are black anodized and that no parts have sharp edges.
Detailed Description:
Inspect all aluminum payload components and confirm that they are anodized as indicated on the Payload ICD.
With your thumb in a clean room-safe glove, carefully pass it over all outer part edges and confirm that none of these edges are sharp enough to cut through the glove.
Task Description: Inspect the flight gnomon and confirm that it is less than 28 mm by 28 mm and has a matte finish.
Completion Deadline: May 31, 2022
Team Member: Ali
Resources Required: Flight gnomon, calipers
Verification Activities: R-PLD-0320, V-PLD-0231
Pass Criteria: The gnomon is less than 28 mm by 28 mm and has a matte finish.
Detailed Description:
Confirm that the gnomon is located on the geological sample plate and is less than 28mm by 28 mm.
Inspect the flight gnomon and verify that it has a matte surface finish.
