Ensure ultrasonic cleaner is not coated with grime or fine dusk particles by wiping down the interior with with a moist paper towel.
Place the fasteners in ultrasonic cleaner basket (Fig. 1).
Fill ultrasonic cleaner with hot water. Fasteners should be submerged at least 1 cm under water (Fig 3.).
It is important that water is hot. Hot water evaporates at a rapid rate in comparison to water that is cold or at room temperature. This makes drying faster and more effective.
Add spritz of dish detergent to the water (Fig 4.).
Squirt for approximately 2 seconds.
Connect ultrasonic cleaner to power source. Check if set to the default heat settings (Fig 5.).
Default settings: 50°C for 5 minutes
Press on button under the temperature settings to bring the ultrasonic cleaner up to temperature (Fig. 6).
Blue light indicates that the device is "on".
When "on", temperature indicating window blinks.
Once ultrasonic cleaner is at desired temperature the blue light will turn off.
Press start once temperature is equal to the set temperature (Fig. 7).
Blue light appears near timer after start button is pressed.
After ultrasonic cleaner is finished running:
a. Rinse one fastener under hot water.
b. Dry fastener with Kimwipe.
c. Inspect Kimwipe for residue such as oil or dirt.
If residue is present on Kimwipe (Fig. 8) repeat step 5 to 6.
If Kimwipe is clear of any residue after inspection:
a. Rinse all fasteners under hot water.
b. Dry all fasteners using Kimwipe.
c. Leave fasteners on Kimwipe to air dry until certain that they are completely dry (Fig. 9).
Estimated drying time: 2 hours.
Turn off ultrasonic cleaner.
Do not remove water from ultrasonic cleaner immediately, since water acts as a medium to dissipate the heat.
Once the water has cooled, drain the water from the ultrasonic cleaner and wipe it down to prevent residue buildup.
Once the fasteners are dry, store in clean room bin or an ESD safe bag.
If fasteners are to be used immediately after drying see the "Before Installation" steps found below.
Visually inspect fasteners for water/moisture to ensure that they are completely dry.
Spot check several fasteners (of different types if possible) by wiping down the isopropyl alcohol soaked Kimwipes.
Before use check Kimwipe(s) for contaminants.
If all fasteners are dry and non contaminants were observed during the isopropyl spot-check, install the fasteners using the relevant assembly instructions.
