Wonders of the World

There are two things I don't like about the Civilisation II Wonders approach:

    • The wonders are not genericized away from Earth's history (this is appropriate for historical scenarios, but not for those when starting at the beginning)

    • The effects of the wonders are unrealistic

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World:

    • Great Pyramid of Giza

    • Hanging Gardens of Babylon

    • Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

    • Statue of Zeus at Olympia

    • Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (also known as the Mausoleum of Mausolus)

    • Colossus of Rhodes

    • Lighthouse of Alexandria

There are three key aspects to wonders: the form, the function and the location. The Great Pyramid is named for it's form; whilst the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is named for its function.
