Wonders of the World
There are two things I don't like about the Civilisation II Wonders approach:
The wonders are not genericized away from Earth's history (this is appropriate for historical scenarios, but not for those when starting at the beginning)
The effects of the wonders are unrealistic
The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World:
Great Pyramid of Giza
Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (also known as the Mausoleum of Mausolus)
Colossus of Rhodes
Lighthouse of Alexandria
There are three key aspects to wonders: the form, the function and the location. The Great Pyramid is named for it's form; whilst the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is named for its function.
