FOB

I have an idea for a real-time strategy game, where you assume the role of a commander in a forward operating base (FOB). What you see on the screen is what the FOB commander would see, a map with pins in it. He would also recieve reports from units in the field, and would issue orders to the units.

How it differs from a normal turn-based strategy

Instead of seeing the combat on the screen, the commander only get reports of the combat, e.g. "1st Platoon reports they are under artillery fire from NNW".

Instead of clicking the mouse to give orders, the player issues orders as text, using a series of drop-down lists:

Move to (click input from map)

Hold position

Entrench

etc

An alternative to this would be that all reports are audio, and all commands are audio, and rely on voice recognition.
