SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS You are responsible for the behavior of your class at all times during the day. Please be on time to accompany your class to and from art, music, P.E. and the cafeteria. Special area teachers are responsible for the students during their assigned period. Please:
- Refrain from leaving children in the halls. If a student needs to be sent from a room, he/she should be placed under supervision with a specific job to do. Dismissal from a room should always be followed with a conference with students(s) and possibly with the parents. Children should never just stand in the hall or sit in the corner. Teachers may pair up for time-out strategies.
- Refrain from depriving children from Specials/Exploratory/Connections due to misbehavior or failure to complete their work.
- Do not send a child back to an empty classroom. Supervision is questionable when no adult is present.
- Every faculty and staff member plays an important role in the management of all students. Please supervise all students wherever you are: in the halls, restrooms, cafeteria, playground, assemblies, or buses.
SUPERVISION (CLASSROOM) because of the liability for student’s welfare and behavior, teachers must not leave their students unsupervised. A teacher should never leave a class or group to run an errand or bring a child to the clinic. The paraprofessionals (if available) are available for those outside classroom tasks. If there is an emergency, call the office for an administrator.
