All teachers are REQUIRED to sit with their class the first two weeks and the last week of school.
All Kindergarten paraprofessionals will monitor the K-students the entire school year.
Teachers must walk their class to the door of the serving line (when in use) or seat them at their assigned table(s).
Teachers must deliver and pick up students on time.
Children will not be allowed to save seats.
Teachers will give a restroom break before lunch. Students will use the restroom while in the cafeteria only in case of an emergency.
Parents/visitors shall sit at one of the guest tables with their child(ren). As a privilege, students may invite one friend to join them at the guest table.
Children are not allowed to trade/share food.
As a safety precaution, no can or glass containers will be allowed. No open containers of food or beverage will be allowed to leave the cafeteria except ice cream.
If teachers allow students to eat in their classrooms for lunch, the teacher MUST escort them. Un-escorted students will be sent back to the cafeteria and the teacher will be notified.
Students will be allowed to purchase snacks (ice cream) after a period of no less than 15 minutes in the cafeteria.
It is important for all homeroom teachers to support the monitors by having some type of consequence in place for misbehaving in the cafeteria.
Please be sure to go over proper cafeteria procedures with your students quarterly.
**Do not deny students who bring money for snack (ice cream) the opportunity to purchase.**
If a class or student is given silent lunch as a consequence from their classroom teacher or one of the cafeteria monitors, they are not allowed to buy ice cream. Teachers must monitor their own Silent Lunch students.
