Recess

All students are given a 15-minute recess each day according to the schedule (See Lunch Schedule). The classroom teacher must supervise the students during this time. The students are supervised by lunchroom monitors during the 30 minute lunch period. Please be mindful of certain weather conditions that should prevent you from going out. If the playground is muddy, please do not go out.

Recess should be held inside on days with the outside temperature is lower than 33 degrees or hotter than 94 degrees.

32 degrees is the point when most people can start to develop frostbite and hypothermia. 95 degrees is the point when dehydration and heatstroke can set it.

Failure to supervise students during recess creates a hazardous situation which teachers become liable.
