We realize that as a teacher/educator we spend the majority of our time caring for other people's children. This can often cause a conflict when it comes to being able to effectively care for our own children, and sometimes cause additional unnecessary expenses (babysitting) on teacher workdays and pre/post planning days. As a result, we will allow you to bring your (PK - 11) school-aged (age 4 - 17) to school/work with you on teacher workdays and pre/post planning days in lieu of securing a babysitter. You are also free to bring your (PK - 5) child (age 4 - 10) on school days where your child's school is closed and we are in school for the day. The following guidelines must be adhered to and understood:
Your child may not roam the halls, but must be in your classroom on Workdays and Pre/Post Planning Days
On school days, your child will be placed in a classroom with like-aged students (Admin will choose the class)
Disruptive children will NOT be allowed to stay at school with you and are only given one chance. Disruptive children will cause your privilege to be revoked.
The Principal / Principal's Secretary must be notified in advance before your child is brought to school on workdays, pre/post planning days, or school days.
Staff children are not allowed to be present at staff meetings.
Arrangements must be made for a High School (or older) age child to watch children in one room during Planning Days in order for staff children to be able to be present; your child must not interfere with your ability to do the work you are paid for and cannot be left unattended in a room while you are elsewhere.
Class Placement (Staff Children) The students that attend our school are placed in classrooms based upon academic and social needs. We look at learning styles of students and any special programs they may participate in (Early Intervention Program, Special Education and Gifted) to determine the best class placement options. From there we aim to ensure that we have an equal representation of males and females as well as racial/ethnic groups. As a benefit of being a member of the school staff, faculty members are able to suggest one teacher that they would prefer their child be placed. Final placement determination is at the sole discretion of the school principal.
