Honoring the success and growth of our students is a part of our CORE beliefs at Kimberly Elementary School. We recognize students in various ways throughout the school year, but the End of the Year Celebration is a culminating event that is more selective and more celebratory.
Award Programs are held at the end of the semester only. They are generally held the 2nd/3rd week in January and last week of school (See Master Calendar). The Instructional Support Team will support the grade level teachers in ensuring that your event is a success. The planning of the event is the responsibility of the grade level teachers using the guidelines below.
PK, K, & 5th Grade Programs must take place in the Auditorium or Gym.
No mention of Graduation is permissible (Graduation only occurs in PK-12 at the 12th Grade).
Grades 1 - 4 can have their program in the their classrooms or in the Auditorium.
The entire grade level must be uniform with awards and location.
Invitations MUST be sent to those students receiving awards in grades 1 - 4. In grades PK, K, & 5 all students receive a Certificate of Completion.
Refreshments can be offered for grades PK - 4; the 5th Grade Cook-Out serves as the opportunity for refreshments.
Staff Children & Graduation/Awards Day Attendance
As we know the last month of school is considered a critical time for all employees; however, we recognize that certain milestones occur in our children's lives that we all want to be a part of. In an effort to ensure that we maintain safety and security in our school, while acknowledging your desire to participate in your own children's end of the year celebrations, we must limit attendance to the following:
College Graduations (Maximum of 1 Day Approved Leave (local); Maximum of 2 Days Approved Leave (Out of State))
High School Graduation (Maximum of 1 Day Approved Leave)
PK, K, 5, & 8 Grade End of the Year Celebrations (Maximum 1/2 Day Approved Leave)
All leave requests MUST be made in advance (2 weeks) of the event.
