Possibly a yacca gum contractor:
The list of Islanders who have volunteered for service at the front is steadily increasing, and the number now totals 53. The completion of gumming contracts last week made it possible for several previously engaged in this work to offer their services, and these, who successfully passed and went into camp on Tuesday, were Messrs W. Spicer, D. Macintosh, W. S. Bush, and S. S. Morgan. Mr T. C Thomas, who went into camp some weeks ago, has been discharged on account of being medically unfit.
