The Island friends of Lce.-Cpl. H. C. Hardwicke will regret to hear that he was killed in action in France on July 21. Previous to enlisting he was engaged in oil making at Cygnet River in partnership with Mr F. J. Hamilton, and was highly respected throughout the district. He was the second son of Mr and Mrs J. Hardwicke, of Brighton, and was 25 years of age.
