His citation for the MM in WW1 reads

“In operations near HOOGE east of YPRES from 1st to 8th October, 1917, when Company signallers and runners had become casualties he volunteered to carry an important message through an intense barrage and afterwards continued to act as messenger displaying great gallantry and devotion to duty. On two occasions when returning from delivering messages to Battalion Headquarters, he met stretcher bearers and a ration party who were lost and guided them to their destination.”

·         He came to KI in 1920

·         He won a Military Medal in 1919 for bravery near Ypres in October 1917

·         He was a commissioned officer (S1187) in WW2 enlisting in 1940 and being discharged in 1947 and at least for some of his service was based at the Loveday camp for internees, aliens and POWs

·         The spelling of his name seems to vary between KAESEHAGEN and KASEHAGEN.  The family came from Hanover in the 1850s and I would suspect the former spelling is the correct one. - Chris Ward 10 Feb 2015
