From Chris Ward:

    • Pizey was born at East Adelaide in 1883 a son of Septimus Verinder. PIZEY and his wife Lucy Harriet nee Carruthers.

    • In 1910 he was a storekeeper in Three Springs in W.A. On 21 or 31 December 1910 he married Helene Isabelle Groffier at Dongara W.A.

    • On 25 September 1915 he enlisted in the AIF at Blackboy Hill. Service No 10880. He was awarded a Military Medal 10 August 1916 (London Gazette 29701). I’m unclear as to his final rank at the end of the War. I think he was a Warrant Officer Class 2 although I have seen him described as Brigade Sergeant Major, Battalion Sergeant Major and Battery Sergeant Major. I’m not familiar with these last three terms.

KI CONNECTION

    • Prior to 1910 he was a catechist at the Anglican Church on KI. His grandfather was Rev. Edward Pizey M.A., Vicar of Holy Trinity, Tunbridge Wells, England and many of his relatives were connected with the Anglican clergy

    • He died at Keswick on 29 October 1939 and is buried at Light Oval at West Terrace. His wife died in Perth on 8 October 1957 age 76 and her ashes were scattered at Karrakatta Cemetery

    • From what I can gather they had three children and there is a chance that their marriage ended in divorce or at least separation.

1908 Mr. Cuthbert Pizey, who has been locum-tenens for Canon Clairs at Pinjarrah during the last six months, returned to the Eastern States during the past week. Canon Clairs, who is still in England, has resigned his incumbency,
