Research by Chris Ward 28 Dec 2018:

Matron Hannah Mary DEANE had been at the Penneshaw Nursing Home for seven years when she died on 14 May 1937.

She was born as Hannah Mary MULLINS in Cork in Ireland on 1 October 1880.

She enlisted as a Staff Nurse in the AANS on 5 May 1915 and was promoted to Sister on 5 May 1917. She saw service in Egypt, Lemnos and France. She was discharged on 25 July 1919 and qualified for the WW1 trio.

On 22 December 1923 she married widower Ernest Gregg DEANE at the Catholic Archbishop’s residence in Adelaide. There were no children.

She is buried in West Terrace Cemetery in the Catholic Western Ground, Row E, Grave 37. A Leslie MULLINS who I suspect was a brother is buried in the same grave.
