OBITUARY.

On Friday last, October 13th, Mr John Leo Barnes, passed away at the Kingscote Hospital at the age of 67 years. He had been in ill health for a considerable time. He was the second son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Barnes of Kensington. Mr Barnes has been connected with the Kingscote district for nearly fifty years, mainly in connection with the farming industry. Soon after the Boer War broke out be joined the Bushman's contingent and after serving twelve months returned to Australia and then returned to South Africa with the 7th contingent. In the first World War, be served with the 9th Light Horse. He married Emily, daughter of the late T. Margrie and Mrs Margrie, who predeceased him. Mr Barnes leaves three brothers, George, Victoria, Gus, Kingscote, and Harold, Queensland. His remains were interred in the Kingscote Cemetery on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a large circle of comrades and friends. Messrs O. B. Schaefer, E. Quinlan, G. H. Ayliffe and M. Boxer acted as pallbearers. Mr L. Carthew officiated at the grave side.
