Latest advice, Saturday 8th October 2016

Due to security concerns the US Government has warned its citizens to avoid large gatherings and public spaces such as concert halls, movie theatres,

museums, shopping malls, and sports venues in Cairo until 9 October (see Safety and Security).

The level of this advice has not changed. We continue to advise Australians to reconsider their need to travel to Egypt.

Newly appointed Consul General Mr Mohamed Fakhry at Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt Melbourne office, recently succeed

outgoing Mr Khaled Rizk on 17th June 2016.

I was delighted to receive an invitation from the consul General Mohamed Fakhry, to attend the Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs, by Mrs Nabila Makram, Her Excellency and 7 other members delegation, visiting Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne before flying again to & New Zealand

I secured an interviewed with Mrs Makram, Thanks to the Egyptian Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Mr Mohamed Khairat, for making this possible

This interview will be played tonight, 8:30pm sharp AEDT, i would like take this opportunity to also thank the total number of staff assisting this delegation at the Consulate General Melbourne office, Market Street Melbourne, the staff did a tremendous job having this fantastic evening, with constant flow of food, drinks, coffee and sweets on Friday 14th Oct 2016 at the Egyptian Consulate office, Melbourne Australia. THANKS AGAIN

Biladi dollar certificates – [ Bonds ] for expatriate Egyptians.

Certificates of Deposit [ CD ] – in Foreign Currencies [ EUR, USD and now Australian currencies ]

Egyptians citizens overseas can open certificates of Deposit [ Bonds ] with a minimum value of $100 in their own names or the names of their children. Deposits made through the program will earn fixed annual interest rates

The National Bank of Egypt, Banque du Caire and Banque Misr, will allow Egyptians living O/S to keep their savings in Australian dollars while still depositing them into the Egyptian local banking system.

4 percent for a one-year certificate,

5 percent for a three-year certificate and

6 percent for a five-year certificate, NO RESTRICTIONS, LESS AUSTRALIAN TAX on maturity
