George Evgeniou hails from Cyprus but lives, for a long time now, in the UK where he has studied the arts, crafts and skills of the theatre.
His study continued most fervently under the guidance of various well known teachers and with his participation in a number of famous theatre groups, including the Dundee Repertory Theatre, Sir Donald Wolfit's company and Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop; and, let's not make too small a deal of this, he also had involvement in films!
All this, before he took on the challenge of starting his own theatre company, first within the constrains of his garage, (of all places!) and finally at the current wonderful space, the Theatro Technis, in London.
His love for the theatre is commensurate with his love for encouraging and giving support and training to young actors from all around the planet.
George Evgeniou is a man with lots of profound passions, the greatest of which is his passion for peace; a passion which is a finely woven tapestry made with the threads of poetry, of music, of theatre and a love for fellow human beings. He is, in other words, the gentlest of all giants in a realm where Peace reigns and the most passionate of inspirations where the art of the "travelling minstrels" reigns.
He has produced and directed many ancient Greek plays covering all of the tragedians and the Comedian Aristophanes. He is now in the rehearsal stages of Aristophanes' "Women In Parliament" and 96.5FM will be broadcasting an interview with him on Monday, 27th May about his experience and his views on the play, which, incidentally will be based on the translation by our very own lover of ancient drama, George Theodoridis.
