Subject : Italians in Egypt, starting from 1820’s till 1950’s.
Gerardo Papalia is a reserach associate at Monash University where he is currently conducting research as well as teaching in Italian studies.
He is also an Honorary Research Fellow in Italian Studies at La Trobe University. In addition to these roles, Gerardo Papalia also works as Collections Administrator at the Italian Historical Society of Melbourne, where he regularly both conducts and supervises research projects in collaboration with institutional stakeholders and post-graduate students.
Gerardo Papalia holds a Ph.D. from La Trobe University in contemporary history for a thesis on cultural, economic and political relations between Italy and Australia during the Fascist era. He has published extensively on Italian migrant culture in Australia with a particular focus on diaspora identities and hybridity.
