Q1] If I can start by reflecting on how the use of Social networking web sites, have helped young Egyptians find their voice and project it to the world
leading to the uprising on 25th Jan 2011, remembering these same young Egyptians are not your professional journalists, nor are they a legal fraternity,
scholars, or political groups.
As a Lecturer and a researcher What did we learn from it ?
Q2] Will you be changing your student’s curriculum as a result of this event?
Q3] Is it time to a changes current laws to protect internet bloggers in Egypt?
Q4] How will the theory of Darwinism change Citizen/Mass Journalism/Reporters in Egypt?

Q7] There’s been an on-going criticism of Government and state owned Media groups covering only the needs of the ruling authorities,
promoting their interest and agenda.
How do you feel about foreign investors financing and running private & commercially viable media group in Egypt?
Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at The American University in Cairo [ AUC ]:-
Naila Hamdy received her BA from the University of San Francisco in 1980, her MA from the American University in Cairo in 1996 and her PhD from Cairo University in 2007. Hamdy joined AUC in 1997 to teach courses in the graduate program of the Adham Center for Television Journalism. She has since expanded her teaching interests to other areas of journalism and mass communication. Her research interests focus on various aspects of the journalism profession in Egypt, the impact of communication technologies and media development in the Arab region. Hamdy is also an expert on Arab media.
Hamdy’s publications include peer-reviewed articles the International Communication Gazette, The Journal of Middle East Media, Journal of Arab and Muslim Media Research and the Global Media Journal and the Westminister Papers in Communication and Culture, She is a member of several professional associations including the Broadcast Educators Association (BEA), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). She is also currently serving as the President for Arab-US Association for Communication Educators (AUSACE). In addition, she is on the editorial board of The Journal of Arab & Muslim Media Research and the Arabic edition of Global Media Journal.
Hamdy is also a former television journalist who has covered major news events for prominent international television stations and also continues to make professional contributions. She has also appeared on television stations including CNN, NBC, NHK, Al Hurra and Nile TV and given frequent interviews to print media including the New York Times, AFP, Chicago Tribune, Egypt Today and the Daily Star on a variety of media related issues.
