Jerry Guirguis interview Ida, an Egyptian journalist Live-to-air Monday 5th August 2013 from Egypt to our studio 96.5FM – Egyptian radio program [ Melbourne - Australia ].
6:30pm Melbourne = 10:30am Cairo – Our special guest tonight is Ida [ not her real name ], for privacy and duty of care to our guest tonight, Ida is a Journalist lives and works in Egypt.
Ida's compelling story, that is likely and disastrously will end her paid reporting career as a Journalist for a major Middle Eastern media organization for speaking out.
Her story, is about her over whelming patriotic feeling that drove her on to take part, and participate in the 30th June 2013 demonstration in Egypt that ousted President Morsi , as Ida explains, ‘I wanted to add another voice to the 30,000,000 People’s Revolution, this time I didn’t want to be sitting on fence, being neutral as I’ve learnt in my reporting career, this time, this event, I made up mind, by showing up in the street of Egypt, to push for a number of changes to take place in my country’.
Knowing she is jeopardising her career, Ida still went ahead against all the Ethics and codes of Journalism, compromised, but defiant, walked alongside the other millions to a number of Egyptian city square without her microphone or press identity pass.
Ida and many journalists like her, reporting on the Arab uprising, are also demonstrating against their bosses for not reporting truthfully on events inside Egypt, their anger for not being able to professionally deliver the truth, demonstrated for freedom from past practise, took this timely opportunity to break this cardinal sin in Journalism by being interviewed.
Egypt and the current interim Government is allowing the People’s Revolutions to finally practise grass root Democracy in assembling in large numbers, since the ousting of President Mubarak on 25th January 2011 and again by mobilizing 30,000,000 demonstrators, without fear, in giving their last asset, life, Morsi got ousted and his skewed Muslim Brotherhood ideology.
The Peoples Revolution has given the strength to the individual to go against all corruptions, at all levels, dictatorial leaders, Government and Institutions.
