Indigo Lake

Indigo Lake

Way down south in south Alabama near the Alabama-Florida line

There’s a little bitty piece of culinary heaven but it’s damn near impossible to find

You take several left turns down several dirt roads and the last left turn you make

Brings you right down to this restaurant by the name of Indigo Lake

Well the restaurant, as you might imagine, sits right by the side of the lake

And it’s what’s in the water that makes worth while the laborious drive you gotta take

They got two things only on the Indigo menu, you can order up whichever you wish

One’s deep-fat fried and one’s flame-broiled and they’re both pronounced "catfish"

Hush, hush, hush little puppy in the cole, coleslaw

That waitress coming with the baskets, well that’s the prettiest sight I ever saw

And there never ever was a tastier dish than that fish, that fat fish, that cat fish

From Indigo lake

Now the cook they got is a catfish wizard and his reputation’s grown so great

That it’s every little catfish’s big ambition to be served on an Indigo plate

All the big fat daddies and big pudgy mammas want a shot at the Indigo hook

And all the cute little tasty teenage kitty fish got a big crush on the cook

Well you drive back home in the Alabama dark and you’re feeling like life’s worth living

And your heart’s filled up with gratitude for the fish and the lives they’re giving

Catfish sacrificing their dog-eat-dog existence and they do it for the sake

Of bringing you a little bit of catfish soul – down at Indigo Lake

Hush, hush little puppy in the cole, coleslaw . . .
