CAMERA SHOTS

Wide Shot/Full Shot: FS

Shot that shows a person’s ENTIRE body from HEAD to TOE, or a complete shot of another type of subject.

  • WIDE SHOT- GROUP
  • WIDE SHOT - TWO PERSON

Medium Shot: MS

In the case of the standing actor, the lower frame passes through the waist. There is space for hand gestures to be seen.

CONVERSATION SHOT

Close Up: CU

A picture which shows a fairly small part of the background Shows the character's face, in great detail so that it fills the screen.

Interview Shot

Extreme Close Up: XCU

Forehead to chin. Close-ups focus attention on a person's feelings or reactions. Show people in a state of emotional excitement, grief or joy.

Not Flattering on anyone BUT children

Establish Shot: Est

Establish shot. Opening shot. Frequently an exterior 'General View'. Always a FULL SHOT.

Used to set the scene. “Establishes” a location for the SHOTS that follow!
