Editing Your MMI

ASSEMBLING YOUR SHOTS

  1. Open all of your images
  2. Find your BACKGROUND photo
  3. Drag it away from the other files so that it is on it's own floating window
  4. Select the MOVE tool
  5. Hold shift, and drag the photos one at a time onto the background layer
  6. Drag all images so that they become a STACK of layers

NAME LAYERS

  1. Turn off ALL of the layers except the background
  2. Name each layer from bottom to top (turning each on as you go up the layer list)

ALIGNMENT OF LAYERS

  1. Turn off all layers except the background layer
  2. NOTE: you MAY not need to do this part if you NEVER moved the camera
  3. Start with the layer that is directly, turn it on, then set it to MULTIPLY blending mode on the layer's palette
  4. Choose the move tool on your toolbar
  5. Use your arrow keys on the keyboard to move the layer around if needed. Stop when the layer looks CLEAR (not blurred)
  6. Change the blend mode back to normal once it is aligned
  7. Start at the BOTTOM & go up the list of layers, turning one on at a time
    1. Then set the layer to multiply blending mode
    2. Next align each layer to the background
    3. Set the layer BACK to normal blending mode
    4. Align each layer with this method until you get to the top of the layer's palette

CREATING THE ILLUSION

  1. Turn off all the layers (use the eyeball icon on the layer's palette) except the background layer
  2. Turn on the layer directly above the background layer
  3. Add a layer mask to that layer
  4. Use a SOFT edge, round, black brush to cut a hole in that layer to reveal what is under that layer
  5. Do this to each layer.
  6. As you go up the list (turning on the eye ball), you will cut larger or more holes in the newly visible layer to reveal the photos that are underneath
