Poetry Workshop Syllabus

Requirements:

• Read us at least one poem each week, and show us, somehow, what makes it important to you. You must have written at least half of these poems.
• Formally respond to at least one poem per week, and show, through written reflection, what light the poem shines for you.
• Show experiments in at least three forms or models each semester.
• Show evidence of revision of at least three poems.
• Read a poem in public at least once per quarter. Public means outside of our class room and time, with at least three people listening.
• Contribute 8-15 pages of poetry to our class anthology.

Materials:

• Poetry journal
• Portfolio
• Pens/pencils

Class expectations:

• Show up each day open to the experience of poetry!
• Have fun with words!
• Look for the light!
