How did ________ come to be the way it is? Explore various perspectives. Fill in the blank, and answer the question in a searching, provocative, thoughtful way.
What makes our life the way it is? Research a topic in history, psychology, literature, sociology, biology, or any other academic topic, and write a 5-7 page paper presenting your theory.
This paper should represent your effort to answer your research question. What do you really want to know? Follow your curiosity towards a question whose answer is mysterious to you. Then consider... what field of study might be researching answers to such a question?
As an alternative, you may go to the Science page of the New York Times, and pursue an area of interest in current scientific trends. Here's a link.
Read in the field. Come up with a theory by noting the conclusions different scholars are reaching, and weighing those conclusions against your own experience. Where do these scholars lead your thinking?
Make your thesis clear by the end of your introduction. In your argument, make use of research in the field you have chosen, and present the findings of at MINIMUM three different scholars. Explore, in your conclusion, the implications of your theory.
