Last Project

Teach us a lesson on a song or poem that has deep meaning and significance to you. It must be school appropriate in diction and content. Create a lesson for us about your song or poem, powered by a presentation, either on Slides or comparable software. Pay attention to the due date for sharing that presentation with me: you may not present until after you have guided me through a draft of it. Remember, your presentation is not your lesson... in effect, it is a sort of outline.

  1. Start with a journal entry question that will make us engage personally in the words or lyrics.
  2. Lead a brief discussion on the journal entry, and then introduce your song or poem.
  3. Play the song for us, or read the poem.
  4. Explain what deep insights you take from the song or poem.
  5. Connect these insights to THREE THINGS YOU READ THIS YEAR: use at least one quote from each of these pieces of literature.
  6. Lead a discussion about the song or poem.
  7. Conclude with a profound thought about life or literature.

Rules:

  • Except when projecting the song or poem, you may never have more than 12 words on a slide.
  • You may never read your slide to us.
  • Some part of your presentation must include video and/or audio.
  • Every slide must have some visual interest beyond words.
  • Don't be afraid to make us laugh.
