Book in the world

What independent reading book has had the biggest impact on you this year? How so? How has it changed the way you perceive and think about the world?

Write a letter about it to an adult who is not related to you, and who lives outside of Ouray. You must be able to find his/her address. Include a correctly formatted SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope). I'll mail it for you.

Here are your choices:

• Write to the author, thanking him/her for the impact that the book has had on your life; OR
• Write to someone you think would enjoy the book. Give him/her clear, convincing reasons to read it; OR
• Write to the director of a filmed version of the book. Explain carefully why his/her movie is important in your life, how his/her adaptation deepened your appreciation of the book.

Whichever letter you write, it should be multi-paragraphed and extremely specific. It should quote the book at least three times, and refer to many specific details in making its points. Look here for the correct format of a letter.
