Christumatha Nirupanam

Christumatha Nirupanam is Chattampi Swami’s first work published in book form. There was a strong movement for conversion during the time of Swami. It became essential for Hindus to logically defend against the arguments in favor of accepting Christianity put forward by the Christian missionaries. Defending Hinduism necessitated an awareness of the content of Bible and Christian thought and a capability to compare it with Hindu ways. The book Christumatha Nirupanam contains Two parts - the Christumatha Saram and Christumatha Chetham. The first part gives the cream of biblical thought and shows that that Christianity was based on universal Love. Swami concludes this part by stating that ‘Knowing the Christian religion, all men should become aware of their sins, repent, and as taught by bible believe in Christ, join the Christian Church, be pure in spirit and benevolent, pray to God, and with strong belief get the blessings of the Lord, read the bible, understand its meaning, teach it to others and should firmly tread the right path’. In the second part quoting the Christian scriptures itself Swami he points out how far the missionaries misinterpret and divert the concepts in the Bible and are working against the teachings of Christ in their conversion activities. In the same period of Swami Tolstoy, Ingersol etc also approached Gospels in the same way.
