CHATTAMPI SWAMI: A SCHOLAR EXTRA ORDINARY- O RajaGopal

Sri. O Rajagopal, Former Central Minster inaugurated the programme and gave the keynote address. Citing the historic meeting of Chattampi Swami and Swami Vivekananda he stated that Chattampi Swami was one of the greatest scholars of the time who could clarify many doubts about the science of yoga even to Swami Vivekananda using his experience and scientific and philosophical knowledge. He added that the seeds of reformation he had sown have transformed Kerala to its present State. His knowledge, fearlessness and love for his fellow beings were unique. Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi Chairman Sri. P Gopinathan Nair stated in his speech that the present situation of the country is very worse than we find it in the surface. Politics have become something that is foul the thought, the words and the deeds of the aders differ. In times of such turmoil saints and leaders like Gandhi and Chattampi Swami who boldly acted against such evil forces have taken birth. Their life should inspire the present to react against what is going on in the name of politics.

Prof. Jagathi Velayudhan Nair Memorial ‘Vidhyadhiraja Hamsam’ award was presented to Sri. Vaikkam Vivekanandan for his book ‘Mahaparabhu’. Smt T Santhakumari, Member of the panel, which selected book for award, introduced the book ‘Mahaparabhu’. Sri. Vaikkam Vivekanandan in his reply speech stated that we are indebted to Swami for the just social system that we are enjoying at present.

Sree Vidhyadhiraja Vedanta Padanakendram, Neyyatinkara organized the Bhattarakotsvam to celebrate 160th birthday of Sree Chattampi Swamikal on 1st September 2013 at Sreekrishna Swami Temple Neyyatinkara. Dr. M P Balakrishnan, Acharya of the Kendra giving the presidential address stated that the story of Swami who elevated himself from the son of on ordinary housemaid to a scholar and reformer extraordinary was amazing.
