Filming a vehicle for video production:
Please make sure that your students are aware that they are NOT permitted to video themselves or other students operating a vehicle for any school related video production.
Students are permitted to use the their personal vehicle for school related productions under the following guidelines:
· The production is supervised by a teacher.
· The vehicle is on school property.
· The vehicle is not to be started or powered under any circumstance.

1. Can we use music under creative commons license?

Attribution: You must give credit to the artist.
Noncommercial: You may not use this work for commercial purposes unless you make specific arrangements with the artist under another license.
Share Alike: If you alter, transform, or build upon this music, you may distribute the resulting creation only under a license identical to this one.
If you want to use music that is not copyright free music owned by the Lenape Regional High School District you must have the "Producer" sign the attached Music Release Form.
2. Are youtube videos ok to use if the mechanical rights are secured via email from the artist?
If you want to use video that was not shot by or already owned by the Lenape Regional High School District you must have the "Producer" sign the attached Video Release Form.
3. I'm asking my students to get a release from everyone they interview, no if, ans or buts.
This is a great policy as long as they are not LRHSD students. If they are LRHSD students you need to check and see if they have been given permission via the Parent Media Consent Form which is entered in Genesis.
4. There are many students who will be shooting on location. I am asking them to secure the location with an email to the property owner and CC myself. Is this ok?
No.
Should we have a contract?
Yes. If you want to use a location that is not owned by the Lenape Regional High School District and is private property you must have the owner sign the attached Video Production Release Form. There are locations, such as public places and events, that allow you to shoot without requiring a location release. However, some cities will require a special permit (and often a fee) to shoot video, even from the sidewalk. To prevent early termination of your production, it’s best to know your rights ahead of time. Take the necessary steps to make your production legal should any disputes arise.
We have a Video Production Location Release Form if you want to use a location that is not owned by the Lenape Regional High School District and is private property. You must have the owner sign the attached Video Production Release Form.
For future productions that are shot on location please have your students contact the management of the location a minimum of two days in advance seeking permission to video on their premises. A best practice would be to have them email the location release form in advance and to have them sign it and return it so that when the students show up with their equipment they have the signed release form already in-hand.
