DOF Explained

This video explains how aperture, focal length, and distance create different areas of focus along the z -axis. Depth of field can be described by the amount of area along the z axis in focus. Short (shallow) DOF helps to selectively focus the audience on a specific object in the frame. Long (deep) DOF puts everything in sharp focus and is use to show the whole scene, sometimes to tell the whole story, or establish setting. Thank you to Justin Snodgrass for making this video and allowing us to use it in class.
