ESA Project Objectives

Students will create a 1 minute long ESA on a topic. The goal is to provide a service to your audience. Present facts that support the idea. Try to lean more towards factual and educational, where you are helping to make a positive change; and less towards emotional and fear based warnings. Remember, try to show with images rather than just tell with words or text. Think about helping your audience.

Pre-production

1.Click this, then click file make a copy, then share it with your partner.

2. Create a list of topics you might want to educate an audience about.

3. Pick one idea and get it approved by the instructor. Instructors will be looking for an idea that is school appropriate and meets the objectives in the top paragraph.

4. Once your idea is approved work on the client interview questions then get them approved.

5. Next make a 2 column table. Select Table>Insert>Table and choose 2 columns, 1 row. Add rows by hitting the tab key to move the cursor between fields.

*****Use 2 columns to describe what is seen and heard sequentially (beginning top-down to end) in a production.

The left side will describe direction and video elements: setting, scenery, wardrobe, makeup, shot type (CU, LS, ect..), camera and talent movement, lighting effects, graphics, titles, special effects, music, sound effects, ambient sounds and sound environments.

The right side will correspond with the left with the exact dialogue (scripted wording) that is performed or featured as a graphic.

6. Get the script approved. (50pts)

7. Storyboard (print)

Answer this again:

What video and audio elements will you include to convey this message? Describe what you see and hear. (be specific, think about the close ups that will show, rather than tell) (5pts)

Remember to drastically change scale or angle to avoid jump cuts. 3 close ups could tell the same story as 1 long drawn-out shot. Get the storyboards approved before moving on. (25pts)

8. Develop a schedule based on your script and storyboard. List the dates on your google doc. (10pts)

9. Begin shooting
