Finishing the Radio Commercial Directions

The final commercial AIFF and MP3 file will be exactly 30 seconds long with a voiceover, at least 2 sound effects and at least 1 music file.

The voiceover should be "performed" in the best style and diction possible. All audio levels will be "mixed" so that the appropriate sounds can be heard at all times and the overall level is close to 0 dB (line level) but never goes over (which would result in clipping or distortion).

Please check with Mr. Pistone when you are finished mixing before you export.

To export:

You also want to add a compressor and a limiter to the submix to make sure the levels stay below 0db. This can be done by selecting the submix track, clicking the effects tab, dynamics, compressor then the plus button.

Click the square limiter button (on the bottom-right) to turn it on.  Set the threshold to -4db, then turn up the gain to boost lower levels, thus "compressing" the level dynamics between -6db and 0db (line level).

Once the levels are close but never over 0db you have "mastered" your commercial.

Click File>Export or hit Command + E.

Name the file appropriately and put it in your project folder (local). Name the file "DateLastNameIpadCommercial". When ready click export or hit enter.

By default it will export an AIFF file.

We will use iTunes to convert the AIFF file to an MP3, then upload to the Soundcloud.  Copy the embed code from Soundcloud and embed the html into your Google Blogger account.

Good examples:

I enjoyed the music at the end, it really supported the announcer.

I like the character voice you used in the beginning.

The sound effects caught my attention and made me laugh.

I think the levels were mixed well, but I found it hard to hear the voiceover in the middle.

The music is good, but I think it doesn't quite fit the tone of the script.

Bad Examples:

Good Job.

Cool.

This is bad.
