Start a business now...

Many students have started to earn income by producing content for local businesses.  

Here's how:

Testimonial videos and how-to videos  are an easy way to start.  Local businesses need social media content.  We've had students who work with local physical therapists, doctors and other businesses to create their videos.  One client and one or two videos can pay for the cost of a camera and a laptop.

Steps to get started:  

• Google each local business in the shopping centers around town, you will notice some might need help.  

• Strategize with your parents and create an agreement using legalzoom or a local attorney.   A contract agreement puts in writing who will do what by when for how much.  

• The skills needed to plan, film and edit are covered in our courses.  Get experience and earn income.

•  You don't need much other than your cellphone to get started.  

• Start buying, renting or borrowing equipment: camera, mic, laptop, tripod, lights, stands and grip equipment (in that order).

Once you work with a client on a few videos you may want to ask if they want consistent content for social media.  It's good practice for each channel to create 3 posts per day, so local businesses really need help to hit that target.  Asking to get businesses to create content for a monthly fee from $500-10,000 might sound over-reaching, but businesses need help with this task.  Business generates income, needs more customers and sets aside part of their income for an advertising budget.  It's out there, waiting for you to help.
