Shawnee Extra News Package Run Down (Sequence of events)
The intro must include 3 things: Introduce yourself, then the topic, then the people you will be interviewing.
Example:
"Hello, I'm Mr. Pistone reporting for Shawnee Extra. Shawnee TV has a podcast every Friday featuring school events and fun segments. Recently the program has been featured on NBC and is currently the #1 search on google for high school television. We had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Pistone, the executive producer and advisor, and a few students in the program."
Montage- a series of short shots that are edited into a sequence to condense space, time, and information) voiceover and/or music. Use at least 3 short clips in a short sequence. Try to make the clips show what is being referenced in the voiceover. Remember, showing is much better than telling.
Filmed documentary style:questions asked off camera*not "man-on-the-street") intercut with B-roll and found sound.
It is possible to record voiceovers (transitions) that lead into logical topic progression but you may find that the answers given in the interview logically fit together. When they do not make sense in order, write a short voiceover that prompts the answer given in the interview.
***The whole section of interviews and B-Roll telling the story can be intercut so the topic logically progresses. This means interviews do not have to be featured in the newspack in order, one-after-the-other, but can be cut together where similar answers or discussion about the topic is put together and logical transitions further the topic, or a voiceover transition is used to link the next point of the topic.
Example:
"Shawnee TV produces advanced shows every day and promotes students and activities. Look for their podcasts at Shawneetv.com and maybe you'll see graduates of the program in the credits on your favorite TV show or movie someday. I'd like to thank Mr. Pistone and his students for speaking with us. For Shawnee TV, I'm ________ back to the studio."
