Conference Rules and By Laws for Track and Field

Conference by-laws on track below…

A. Track:

1. Ran in the Spring with male and female seasons running simultaneously.

2. Practice start date set by the conference athletic directors and may vary from FHSAA start date to keep it equitable.

3. Meet schedule set by the conference athletic directors.

a. Citrus County meets – coaches meeting starts at 3pm, meet starts at 3:30pm

b. Sumter County meets – coaches meeting starts at 4pm, meet starts at 4:30pm

4. HOST Team:

a. Sets up the meet and is responsible for scoring

b. Is the “Games Committee” and will ensure the rules are being followed, review any challenges, and will have the final say in all rulings.

c. Will provide the results within 24 hours of the meet for review.

-Visiting teams will review the results and report any discrepancies within 24 hours of receiving the results.

-Final results are posted and may not be changed 48 hours after the meet concludes.

5. Meet Specifications:

A. Events:

-In regular and County meets,

a. 4 athletes may participate in each event.

b. Athletes may participate in 4 events each (cannot be all running or all field, must be blended)

c. All 4 can score for a team.

-In Conference meets,

a. 3 athletes may participate in each event.

b. Athletes may participate in 4 events each (cannot be all running or all field, must be blended)

c. All 3 can score for a team.

B. The events will be in the following order:

OPEN 800 (for all non-competing athletes)

Field Events:

1. High Jump:

-Initial height will be determined by the rules committee in discussion with the coaches at the coaches meeting prior to the meet.

2. Shot put:

-Girls throw a 6lb. shot put

-Boys throw a 8lb. shot put

-All teams are responsible for bringing their own shot put to the meets.

3. Long Jump

- Rake must be provided for the pit

- Measuring according to FHSAA guidelines must be followed.

4. Discus:

- Girls and Boys throw a 1K disk

-All teams are responsible for bringing their own disk to the meets.

Running Events

1. Hurdles

2. 100 Meters

3. 1600 Meters

4. 400 Meter Relay (all teams responsible for bringing their own batons)

5. 400 Meters

6. 800 Meters

7. 200 Meters

8. 1600 Meter Relay (all teams responsible for bringing their own batons)
