As a UC doctoral student, back in 2002, I enjoyed many learning activities designed by the university. One of the most memorable experiences I remembered vividly was an event called UC Postgraduate Write-a-thon.
I would like to document this as my own reflection. Looking back after 10 years or so, I realized that those times were among the best in my life (so far).
UC Postgraduate Write-a-thon
UC Jervis Bay Field Station
25-29 November 2004
This is our opportunity to seclude ourselves away to get on with our writing in the company of fellow students and as many supervisors and advisors as we can lure to this idyllic location.
The WRITE-A-THON is happening again!
Departure by bus: 9 am 25 November outside Building 1
Return by bus: to UC by 5 pm, 29 November
Cost: Free, but you need to cater for yourselves. Cooking facilities are available at the Field Station and there is a nearby supermarket.
What you need to bring:
A laptop if you have one. A small number are available for loan from the Division’s Curriculum Resource Centre.
The research material you need to get on with your writing
Bed covers, sheets, pillowcases, towels and toiletries
Food and beverages for yourself, or you can buy these at the local supermarket
If you would like to attend, please contact Cath Raby on 6201 5407 or Cath.Raby@canberra.edu.au
Let Cath know whether you will be taking the bus or travelling by your own means. Even though there are bunk beds in the bedrooms, we think it best that there be only one person per room, so get in early!
Looking forward to seeing you there.
